Redress is required as part of Zoopla's Terms and Conditions and Agent criteria.

Redress schemes are government-approved schemes to provide independent redress in relation to disputes between consumers and property professionals.

Since October 2014, by law, all English, Scottish and Welsh Property Agents that carry out Estate, Lettings and Property Management Work, as defined by legislation, must join a government authorised consumer redress scheme.  Scotland is governed by a different code of conduct to that of the UK law.

Estate Agents (defined by section 1 of the Estate Agents Act 1979) in the United Kingdom have been required to belong to an independent redress scheme (alternatively known as an Ombudsman) since the 1st October 2008. This requirement was brought about by the introduction of the Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007 and specifically The Consumers, Estate Agents and Redress Act 2007 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2008.

Letting and/or Property Management and Block Management Agents in England have been required to belong to an independent redress scheme (alternatively known as an Ombudsman) since the 1st October 2014. This requirement was brought about by changes to the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 and specifically by The Redress Schemes for Lettings Agency Work and Property Management Work (Requirement to Belong to a Scheme etc) (England) Order 2014.
